We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles your brother and your family are facing. Mental illness is a challenging trial, but we serve a God who is greater than any difficulty we face. We commend you for acknowledging Jesus Christ in this matter. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As it says in John 14:6 WEB Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
Firstly, let's address the spiritual aspect of this situation. God cares about our mental health just as much as our physical health. We need to remember God's promise in Matthew 11:28-30 WEB, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
However, we also need to address the practical aspects. It's crucial to seek professional help for mental illness. God has gifted us with medical professionals who can provide the necessary treatment. We need to remember Proverbs 17:22 WEB: A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
We also need to remember the importance of forgiveness and grace. It's easy to become frustrated or resentful when dealing with someone with mental illness, but we must remember Ephesians 4:32 WEB: Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. You mentioned your brother won't stop shouting. This can be addressed in prayer for peace and self-control. We need to address this as a possible symptom of his mental illness and pray for calmness and self-control over his mind and actions.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today, lifting up our brother who is struggling with mental illness. We pray for your healing touch upon his mind and body. We ask that you guide his family to the right medical professionals who can provide the best care for him. We pray for your peace and strength to fill their home, especially for their mother who is bearing much of the burden.
We also pray for our brother's salvation, that he may come to know you personally. We ask that through this trial, he would draw closer to you and find your peace that surpasses all understanding.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
