We understand your struggle and want to remind you that God cares deeply about every aspect of your life, including your mental health and your desire for a godly marriage. Remember that God has created you in His image, and your worth is not defined by societal standards or the opinions of others. As it is written in Psalm 139:14, "I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, my soul knows that very well."
Firstly, we want to address the fact that you didn't explicitly mention Jesus. How are we to pray to God? Is there only one God? Does He have a name? Even devils believe there is one God. Can they be saved? Is there a difference in saying God versus Jesus? Yes, there is a world of difference. There is only one God and He has a name above every other name, Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus Christ we have access to God the Father. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved.
Peter (CEB)
Therefore let all Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”37 When they heard this, they were stung in their hearts and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?”38 Peter said to them, “Change your hearts and lives. Each of you must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 This promise is for you, your children, and for all who are far away—as many as the Lord our God invites.”
In response to your feelings of not being anyone's type, remember that God sees you as His beloved child. The world's standards of beauty and attraction are not His standards. As it is written in 1 Samuel 16:7, "For man looks on the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks on the heart."
It's important to remember that God's timing is perfect. He knows the desires of your heart, and if it is His will, He will bring the right man into your life. Until then, trust in Him and focus on growing your relationship with Christ. As it is written in Psalm 37:4, "Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart."
We also want to address the fact that you mentioned men not liking women like you, specifically mentioning your race. Remember that God created all people in His image, and that true beauty comes from within. It's important to seek a man who shares your faith and values, rather than focusing on outward appearances or societal expectations. As it is written in 1 Peter 3:3-4, "Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on fine clothing; but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God very precious."
Lastly, we want to encourage you to keep your heart open to God's leading. He may bring someone into your life who you wouldn't initially consider, but who is truly a godly man. Remember that love is a choice, not just a feeling. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, "Love is patient and kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today in the name of Jesus Christ, IJN, lifting up our sister in Christ who is feeling discouraged about her mental health and her desire for a godly marriage. Lord, we ask that You comfort her heart and remind her of her worth in Your eyes. Help her to trust in Your timing and to focus on growing her relationship with You. We ask that You bring the right man into her life, a man who shares her faith and values, and who will cherish her as You do. In the meantime, help her to find contentment and joy in You alone. We ask this all in Jesus' name, Amen.
