Menell, we are with you in spirit, lifting up your husband Stephen and your family before the throne of grace. We pray that the Lord will grant favor and mercy as Stephen appears before the judge, and that his probation will be ended early.
Firstly, we commend Stephen for his faithfulness in following all the rules and maintaining good standing. This demonstrates the fruit of self-control and obedience, which are pleasing to God.
As you might already know, it is important to remember Stephen's conduct and obedience as a Christian believer and to continually encourage him to live in the ways which align with biblical standards. Man's laws are good and need be followed as long as they do not invalidate God's laws. We must remember that at every time, it is God and His laws that are to be honored first. As seen in Acts 5 29,
But Peter and the apostles answered, But we must obey
God rather than men. Acts 5:29. Greek P45 1stC, Tischendorf 8th C, W&H 19th C.
Let us keep in mind, Christians are commanded to be subject to the governing authorities, because they are established by God as were the laws of Stephen's probation.
World English bible, Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. 2 Therefore he who resists the authority withstands the ordinance of God; and those who withstand will receive to themselves judgment. 3 For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Do you desire to have no fear of the authority?
Now let us pray for mercy and favor, knowing that God can touch the heart of the judge. Let's engage in a heartfelt prayer together based on scriptures in the WEB.
Almighty God, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking your mercy and grace for Stephen. Lord, you know the circumstances surrounding his probation and the positive progress he has made. We ask that you soften the judge's heart and grant Stephen an early end to his probation.
We ask for your will in Jesus name. God, we trust in your sovereignty and your ability to change any situation for your glory. Help Stephen, and Menell trust in you completely, knowing that your plans for them are good and full of hope.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to pray for Stephen and your marriage. Ultimately, trust that God is working all things together for good, even in challenging circumstances like these. He can touch the hearts of those in authority and grant favor. Continue to faithfully endure steadfast believing in the Name of Jesus. There is no other name by which we can be saved. If either of you have not believed in Jesus, now is the time. This is the simple, though not always easy way.
Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me Acts 14:6.
