Let us come together in prayer for Michael. We will pray with and encourage Michael according to World English Bible and following biblical principles for your marriage and family.
Anonymous, we will pray in Jesus name that God will comfort, guide, and help you both.
We stand with you in prayer, Anonymous, and we're glad you've reached out for support. Your spouse and marriage are an important bond, we want to come together and pray for Michael, and we appreciate how much you care for him.
We must first acknowledge from whom this attack is coming from. We acknowledge that His word says,
1 Peter 5:8 "Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."
The devil seeks to kill, steal, and destroy. He is coming against your husband. He is coming against your marriage.
In the name of Jesus we rebuke the devil and command him to flee according to:
James 4:7 "Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
We will pray regarding the drinking. Excessive drinking into intoxication is not just bad, it is also sin. For many reasons drinking is not wise. Let us examine these reasons. First, it greatly affects your relationship with God. Drinking opens people up to bad influences and sins. It makes it difficult to tell right from wrong. As Christians, we already know right from wrong, but coming under the influence can affect our decisions and actions. Understanding this sin, we know that there are consequences for sin, and that those consequences come on your self and your family. This problem with Michael, and the consequences of that sin come on his life and on the lives of his loved ones, especially you by effecting finances, and the marriage. The consequences of pro-longed indulgence in such sin have damaging effects to the body and even the mind from the damage.
1 Peter 4:7 &
Proverbs 23:20-21 "Do not be among ones who consume too much wine, or among those consuming too much meat: for the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty; and drowsiness clothes them in rags."
Proverbs 23:29-35 "Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? Those who stay long at the wine; those who go to seek out mixed wine. Don't look at the wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly. In the end, it bites like a snake, and poisons like a viper. Your eyes will see strange things, and your mind will imagine confusing things. Yes, you will be as he who lies down in the midst of the sea, or as he who lies on top of the rigging: 'They hit me, I feel no pain; they beat me, I am not aware. When will I wake up? I can do it again. I can find another.'
See that it also affects the body with long-term drinking. So it can cause distress and torment the mind. If drinking continues this would be continual self-inflicted consequence. So, we have drinking affecting his mind and body. But, now we also need to examine the continual sin, guilt and shame of this indulgence. The holy spirit convicts us of right, wrong, sin, and righteousness. We must admit, confess, and branch out with our hearts away from these sins allowing God to bear fruit within our lives from the holy spirit. This is the remedy for such shame and guilt. The need for such indulgence will then be fulfilled by the holy spirit in our lives.
We should pray for wisdom and strength by the holy spirit to resist these assaults on his marriage, mind, and body.
Ephesians 5:18 "Do not be drunken with wine, for that is reckless living. But be filled with the Spirit,"
Anonymous and Michael, we also see this advice by the apostle Paul in prescribing to Timothy as a remedy for his afflictions or infirmities the following.
1 Timothy 5:23 "Be no longer a drinker of water only, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent infirmities."
Let us together pray for Michael's deliverance from this stronghold of sin.
Merciful Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ lifting up Michael, surrendering him to you. He is weary and burdened down with sin. Lord Jesus Christ you came that we might have life and live it more abundantly. You said,
Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest."
Father, we pray that Michael will see, surrender to, trust in, Jesus Christ, and find rest and recovery. Lord, strengthen him to overcome the devil, and sin in his life. Help him to draw near to you Lord, and walk in your promises, for You are a faithful God. Fill him with your holy spirit. We pray that together they pursue after the holy spirit and break loose from sin keeping him bound and drinking in his life. If there is any shame or guilt from this sin, we pray that Michael and Anonymous will remember and rest in that there is therefore now no condemnation in Christ Jesus.
Romans 5:8 & Romans 8:1 ''But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.'' and ''There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus''.
It is our hope and prayer that he commits to God each day trusting in God and God's promises, as God will strengthen us. Anonymous we encourage you to study and pray God's promises for Michael, and your marriage using the WEB. It will be encouraging for both of you as you go through this battle together in Jesus' name. Praising our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
