Disciple of Prayer
I posted in the new year about our marriage and was told to do again if I haven't had my prayers answered. On Oct 30 my husband asked for a divorce. He is struggling with his own demons and our family is heartbroken over this turn of events. He is struggling with knowing who he is, was seeing an unlicensed therapist that gave him awful advice, struggling with self love and how to trust and love others. He doesn't feel the love we are giving him. He has felt he has put everyone else above his own needs for his whole adult life and never had the opportunity to figure out who he was as a person. He doesn't trust anyone, lies often to avoid conflict and doesn't feel he has a safe place anywhere in this world, including with me. He feels he has childhood traumas he has repressed. We started couples therapy 2 weeks ago and I pray that this will give us a stronger union, communication and family. I pray every day, multiple times for him and for God to work in his heart. I also pray for God to forgive my sins, show me how to love my husband the way he needs to be loved, teach me patience (my hardest battle going through this trial) and grow in my faith. We have 4 children who are heartbroken that their family is broken at the moment. My husband still feel he needs to be alone to figure his things out but has opted to put the divorce on hold to make sure we give our marriage everything it needs to make sure he is making the right decision. I am asking for prayers that our marriage counseling goes well and that we can bring our family back together and be stronger then ever, rooted in God, in the future. I am a believer, he is not. I am hopeful God will help me to get him sitting next to me at church one day. I appreciate the time you have offered in praying for our family. We need it more than ever in this season.
