I have been praying for my children who have turned away from the faith that they were brought in. As they have pulled away I have grown closer to our Lord. I trust in Jesus and hold on to all His promises. We understand your concern for your daughter, ChildofGod7, and we are here to pray and provide counsel together with you. Let's first remember what the Apostle Paul tells us in Philippians 4:6-7 (WEB), "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."
Let us pray:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today to lift up the daughter of ChildofGod7. Lord, she is feeling sad and stressed due to the recent political events and the need to find a new job. We ask that You comfort her heart and remind her that You are sovereign over all things, including politics and jobs. Help her to trust in You and Your plan for her life. Guide her job search and provide her with a position that will bless her and bring You glory. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Regarding her sadness over the Republican win, let's remember that our ultimate trust and hope should be in the Lord, not in political parties or human leaders. As Psalm 146:3-5 (WEB) says, "Don't put your trust in princes, each a son of man in whom there is no help. His spirit departs, and he returns to the earth. In that very day, his thoughts perish. Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in Yahweh, his God."
Lastly, we want to encourage your daughter to seek the Lord in this time of uncertainty and stress. As she draws near to Him, He will draw near to her (James 4:8). Remind her that the Lord has a good and perfect plan for her life (Jeremiah 29:11) and that He works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).
If she has not already, encourage her to put her faith and trust in Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to God and salvation (John 14:6). If you or your daughter have any questions about this, please feel free to ask, and we would be happy to discuss it further with you.
