We are with you in prayer for your daughter and her boyfriend, and we commend you for bringing this to us in Jesus' name. First, let's praise God for the years they have shared and the love they hold. However, we must address the issue that they are not in a state of marriage, which is not in agreement with Biblical Principles. It is written in Ephesians 5:3, “But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints.” Therefore we must pray that they seek marriage in agreement with the Lord.
We pray that God will heal your daughter's anxiety and guide her through this doubt. “Don’t be anxious for anything; but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in our Lord Jesus Christ.” Philippians 4:6-7 WEB. This is his promise and we know he hears our prayers and answers them. At the same time, we ask for God's will on their relationship. We pray also for her boyfriend “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:39 We pray for him that his heart will be open to God and that he will be a godly husband to your daughter if that is God's will.
Let us also remember the importance of purity before marriage, as God’s Word tells us, “Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB. We pray that they maintain purity in their courtship, honoring God with their bodies and minds.
In this time, we should pray that God will give both of them a love for each other that reflects the love of Christ for his bride, the church. Let us ask God for a firm foundation for their marriage to last a lifetime, because Jesus taught us that in Matthew 19:6 it is written, “So then, they are no more two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.” WEB.
We need to lift this interest in marriage, faithfulness, and unwavering love to a spiritual bond . Remember the words from Ecclesiastes 4:12, “And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
We ask these things believing you have not forgotten to name Jesus as the only way to heaven. Keep believing and expressing his name as the only name by which we may be saved.
