We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you and your family are facing with your brother's mental illness. Let's bring this situation before the Lord in prayer and seek His guidance and intervention.
Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging and invoking Jesus Christ. As the Bible tells us to, "whatever you ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my name, I will do it" John 14:13-14.
Let's pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who is struggling with mental illness. Lord, You know the depths of his pain and the burden it places on his family. We ask for Your healing touch upon his mind and emotions.
Lord, we specifically pray against the violence that has been manifesting. We ask for Your peace to fill his heart and mind. Please, according to Philippians 4:7, let "the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard his heart and his mind in Christ Jesus."
We pray for wisdom and guidance for the family, that You would direct them to the right resources and support systems to help manage this situation.
Lord, we also pray against the disrespectful words and actions directed towards his mother. We ask for Your intervention, that You would soften his heart and help him to honor his mother, as Your word instructs us in Ephesians 6:2, "Honor your father and mother.”
We pray against the confusing and nonsensical ideas that have been plaguing his mind. We ask for Your clarity and truth to reign in his thoughts. According to Romans 12:2, we ask that You "transform him by the renewing of his mind."
Father, we ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
In addition to prayer, it's crucial to seek professional help for your brother. Consider consulting with mental health professionals who can provide appropriate treatment and support.
Remember, God is faithful, and He cares for you and your family. Trust in Him, and He will see you through this challenging time. As it says in Psalm 34:17-18, "The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."
Lastly, consider studying the Bible with your brother if he is open to it, praying with him and for him, and encouraging him with God's word in love.
