We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you and your brother are facing. Mental illness is a challenging trial for both the individual and their loved ones. We are thankful you both once had a better time and that you acknowledge Jesus.
First, remember, that it is Jesus whom we acknowledge to approach God.
Let us pray for your brother's healing and for God's strength to endure this difficult time.
Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who is struggling with mental illness. We ask for Your healing touch upon his mind and spirit. We remember him as he was before we knew of your son Jesus Christ. Lord, glorify your name. We pray that You would calm his thoughts, ease his anxieties, and bring peace to his soul, restoring him to Christ. Help him to serve God the remainder of his life. In Jesus atoning sacrifice we pray for peace in his life.
Lord, we also ask for Your wisdom and guidance for our brother and our family. Give us the strength to endure this trial with patience, love, and understanding.
Help us to remember that even in the darkest times, You are always with us, Lord, ready to help and give comfort for the asking, Father, and so we ask.
Help our brother to do the things he used to so well that You may be glorified in his illness and in his health. In all Your children, help us to lean on you and also to stand independent of the problems of others. As we seek to help our brother, direct us to soft hearts giving willingly of their time, substance, or testimony to your children Lord. Direct any to resources, links and professionals that may help him with medications to, Father, stabilize his mental health where necessary.
We pray against the spirit of death. Holy Spirit help our brother to want to live, spiritually and physically. Help him to understand that sometimes you place trials in our lives to keep us aware of our mortality.
We thank you of God who You are the faithful healer, for I will call the doctor, but God heals.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and to trust in God's promise to never leave nor forsake you. Remember the words of Isaiah 41:10 (WEB),
"Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.'"
God assures us, in Psalm 147:3, that He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. That God can heal, He also is the one to say yes, Lord, you can. Or, Lord heal our brother.
It is you who wills by Your sovereignly granted free will choice. We stand with you or our brother calling, Lord, heal our brother.
