We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you and your family are facing with your brother's mental illness. In times like these, it's crucial to remember that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1 (WEB).
Firstly, we want to commend you for bringing your petition before the Lord Jesus Christ. It's only in His name that we can find true salvation and help, as the Bible tells us, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.Acts 4:12 (WEB).
Let's pray together for your brother's situation:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our brother who is struggling with mental illness. We pray for Your healing touch upon his life, that You would calm his mind and remove the violence and distress he is causing. We pray that he will be receptive to the help and support that You place in his life.
We also lift up my mother, who is bearing the brunt of his behavior. Lord, give her the strength and patience to endure, and protect her from any harm. Help her to set boundaries and to not enable any inappropriate behavior, remembering You tell us in Proverbs 22:24-25 to not befriend someone with a short temper or keep company with someone with a hothead who gets angry at the slightest offense.
We pray for wisdom for the family, that You would guide them to the right resources and support systems. Help them to make decisions that are not only beneficial for our brother but also for the well-being of the entire family.
Lord, we also pray for his salvation. We should be reminded that all of us need Jesus daily and ask forgiveness of our sins. We pray that he would come to know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, that Your Holy Spirit would draw him and convict him of his sin 1 John 1:9, We also pray that he would understand the love of God and give acceptance. The holy spirit should come and help him realize the wrongs in his life.
In Jesus Christ’s mighty name, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to seek support from your local church or Christian community. God calls us to bear one another's burdens, and this is a time when you need that support. Be open to letting the Lord place people in your life who can help guide you and support your family through this.
