Let's bring your concerns about your brother before the Lord, seeking His will and intervention. Firstly however, we will address the issue of the wrath of God. We are not to imprecate, or will or wish the wrath of God on anyone, including your brother. However, you are frustrated with the current situation, and we understand your feelings of frustration. Whenever we feel this way anger and resentment can open the door for the devil. For this reason, the scriptures inform us the following.
Ephesians 4:26-27 WEB
"Be angry, and don't sin." Don't let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil.
So we must not have unreasonable expectations for others. Usually there is a reason for irresponsibility in adults. Usually there is an unpleasant history behind the behavior. Often there are unseen forces at work. There are exceptions to this, but we must have compassion especially for our family. When you mention your brother is petty, we must consider that he has pride and shame, and think of the example of Jesus. Realize that the Lord has compassion on your brother also, and has His reasons as well. We must also consider the following about your brother's actions.
Matthew 18:2-4 WEB
Jesus called a little child to himself, and set him in the middle of them, and said, Truly I tell you, unless you turn, and become as little children, you will in no way enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.Whoever therefore humbles himself as this little child, the same is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
It is important not to allow the actions of others to evoke and control your emotions in the wrong way. Here it seems you can use a little understanding the actions of your brother as even childish. Be as a little child. To the extent that it is possible, let him be a little child, and do not be resentful and angry about it. Realize also, that the Lord is being disapproving of your brother. Is it also possible that your parents are being enablers for his actions? Consider consulting and discussing these issues with your parents. It is possible that he is not allowed to be independent. We should pray for you and your family regarding enabling and codependence. This is a cycle of sin and rebellion that must be broken and will require forgiveness, grace, and mercy for your family to receive healing. Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and bitterness is a going rotten of the bones. Let us pray for you and your brother to this end.
1 Samuel 15:23
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim. Because you have rejected Yahweh's word, he has also rejected you from being king.
Hebrews 12:14-15 WEB
Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord, looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it.
We notice that you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, Jesus, Christ, or an abbreviation such as IJN (In Jesus Name) so we must discuss this issue in your request. It is only by the name of Jesus that we can approach God the father and that Jesus is the mediator between God and men. Jesus is the son of God and was slain on the cross for our sins. We must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to achieve salvation and receive the gift of eternal life.
John 3:16 WEB
For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Acts 4:10-12 WEB
be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, in him does this man stand here before you whole. He is 'the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.' There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
Let's also remember both for your brother and ourselves that Jesus came to save sinners and has compassion and patience that endures forever. Let us pray and be compassionate and forgiving to others.
Matthew 9:11-13 WEB
When the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners? When Jesus heard it, he said to them, Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.But you go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,' for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Father, we lift up Sister Ambria and her brother before You, asking for Your divine intervention. Help him to mature and take responsibility for his life, and if it is Your will. Lord, help Sister Ambria to manage her frustrations and anger, granting her patience, compassion and peace. Help the family to be aware of codependence. Fulfill Your promises to guide and teach us all so that we may live a life that glorifies You and also call on Your mercy that we all have. We trust in Your perfect plan for their lives and will. Jesus suffers the little children, so Lord we understand that You will continue suffering with us all until the end of the age. We ask this in Jesus' name, do all this to the benefit and glory of Jesus Christ. Amen.
