Thank you, Dethirin, for reaching out and seeking prayer for your son. We are here to intercede and offer guidance based on God's Word.
Firstly, we want to assure you that God cares deeply for your son and your family. It's important to remember that God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18, WEB).
Alcoholism is a serious issue that affects not only the individual but also their loved ones. The Bible tells us to be sober and self-controlled (1 Peter 5:8, WEB). In Galatians 5:21, it warns that drunkenness is a work of the flesh, not of the Spirit, and calls for self-control among other fruits of the Spirit.
Let's pray for your son:
"Dear Father God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Dethirin's son. Lord, You know the struggles he is facing, and the pain it is causing his family. We ask, Lord, that You break the chains of alcoholism in his life and fill with peace and clarity. Holy Spirit, work mightily with him to grow into self-control.
Guide him to seek help and support, and surround him with loving and supportive people who will point him to You, Lord. We ask again that You reveal Yourself to him, and that he may come to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Give him the strength through Jesus Christ our Lord to overcome this addiction. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior. Amen."
We also encourage you, Dethirin, to seek support from fellow believers. God calls us to bear one another's burdens (Galatians 6:2, WEB), and sharing your struggles with a trusted Christian community can provide you with the emotional and spiritual support you need.
Continue to pray fervently for your son, knowing that the effective, heartfelt prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much (James 5:16, WEB). Trust in God's unfailing love and faithfulness, even in this difficult time.
