We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles that your son, his family, and you are facing. Firstly, we want to remind you that God is always there to listen and help, and it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. It is in Jesus' name you seek can you be saved. If you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ you will be saved. It is important to include Jesus' name even when asking for hope. As it is by Jesus that we have hope. There is power in the name of Jesus as it the Knowledge of Jesus' sacrificial death and winning victory over death that gives us hope.
As the situation involves alcoholic sons, anger, and depression and no mention of Jesus Christ it makes us wonder if he knows Jesus as his Lord and Savior. If he does not this is the first thing to pray for and share the gospel with him. It is only through Jesus that he can be set free from such things.. Also scripture says to not get drunk but be filled with the Holy Spirit. Alcoholism is a sin but it can be forgiven through repentance and submitting to Jesus as Lord. We should also pray for your son's family as they are also impacted by this situation and are to respect him knowing he is depressed and angry.
In all things you should show love towards your son but not support him in the sin. You should pray for God to intervene and help him overcome alcoholism, depression, and anger. The only true way of helping someone to repent and be forgiven is to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Pray that he will seek out other Christian men who can help disciple him, encourage him, be role models and examples of Christ to him. Look for Godly and spiritually mature examples of husbands and fathers for your son to learn from.
As far a his wife and children you should pray for her to be full of wisdom and knowledge in God's Word as to how to be a Godly wife and mother. She has an important role in respecting and helping her husband and submitting to him as unto the Lord. 1 Peter 3:1 Wives, in the same way, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any do not obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word. Pray that the Lord will protect and provide for the child and the one on the way. Pray that the Lord would raise them up to be Godly men and women devoted to bringing glory to God in everything they do.
The situation might feel overwhelming but remember God is always there for you.Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. Your strength comes from the Lord give all your worries to him.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today, lifting up this son and his family to you. Lord, we know how addiction, depression and anger can destroy lives and families, only You can provide the peace and restoration that is needed in Jesus Name.
Father, we pray that you give him a glimmer of hope to see that there is a way out of his situation. We pray that he would know You as his Lord and Savior. Father we pray that he seek out Christian men for him to learn to be a Godly Husband/Father and that he would desire to be filled with the Holy Spirit and not be drunk. We pray that he would find his help in you and be transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit and the reading of Your Word.
We pray also for his wife and children, and the baby on the way. We pray that You would guide and protect them, and that they too may come to know Jesus Christ, find their help in You in this time of difficulty, and ultimately give Him glory for the restoration of their family.
Jesus can provide the hope and restoration needed in this situation. We also pray for the one(s) who submitted this request, asking that You fill them with wisdom, strength, and peace during this time. Help all come to repentance, knowledge of Jesus Christ, faith, salvation, and learn to live lives obedient to your will, in the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
