We are glad to join with you in prayer and to seek God's will for this connection. It is wonderful to be drawn to someone, especially when you both share a Christian faith.
Let us remember that God's word tells us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion has light with darkness? This passage reminds us that our closest relationships should be with fellow believers, as you both are, so that we can support and encourage each other in our faith.
We should always be pursuing purity in our relationships, fleeing sexual immorality and pursuing righteousness. Remember, the body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. God raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, The two will become one flesh. Since we are members of Christ and one with each other then we must never be joined with a prostitute, or anyone else besides our spouse.
Continue to be drawn to this person, but remember to keep God at the center of your developing relationship. He will guide you according to the plan he has for you. If his plan is to grow your relationship into something more, then he will bless you and guide you. Know that God will be with you as you grow to know this person.
Pray with us:
Heavenly Father, we come before you in Jesus Name, lifting up your child and this growing connection. We ask, Lord, that you guide them, give them wisdom, and help them to grow to know each other in a way that honors you. Protect them from immorality. Protect them from being unequally yoked. Draw them closer to you as they draw closer to each other. Help them to trust in you and to seek your will for their lives. In Jesus Christ name we pray. Amen
If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Let us rest in the knowledge that God desires what is best for us.
