We are truly saddened to hear about this situation and will lift up this father and his son in prayer. We stand on God's word that He is a father to the fatherless and a defender of widows. God places the lonely in families. First though, the Bible tells us that it is only through Jesus Christ that we can approach God. Acts 4:12 says:
And in none other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved
With this in mind, let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up this father and his son. We pray that You would be a father to this boy and a comforter to this man. We ask that You would surround them with Your love and provide for all their needs according to Your riches in glory.
Lord, we also pray for the mother who has left. We do not know her situation, but we know that You desire for all to come to repentance. We pray that You would soften her heart and draw her back to her family. We also pray for a godly spouse for this man if he is not already married, and a godly mother for this boy. We pray that You would heal their hearts and restore their family according to Your will.
We stand on Your word in Psalms 68:5-6, A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. God sets the lonely in families; he brings out those who are bound with chains; but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.
We also pray for godly counsel and support for this father as he raises his son. We ask that You would guide him in Your wisdom and give him strength and courage each day.
Lord, we rebuke any spirit of abandonment or rejection that may try to take hold in their lives. We speak life, hope, and restoration over this family in Jesus' name.
Father, we also pray for salvation and a growing relationship with You for all involved. We pray that they would come to know You in this situation and that Your name would be glorified.
We ask all these things in Jesus' name, Amen.
