We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles your family is facing, and we are here to pray and provide biblical encouragement for you all.
Firstly, let's address the issue of addiction. The Bible tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and that we should honor God with our bodies. As it is written, "Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB)
Your brother is struggling with the bondage of alcoholism and smoking. We pray that God will deliver him from these chains. "Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective." (James 5:13-16 WEB)
We also pray for your mother, that God will strengthen her and give her peace as she cares for your brother. "Don't be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7 WEB)
Regarding your father, the Bible warns us about the love of money. "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows." (1 Timothy 6:10 WEB) We pray that your father will put God first in his life and that he will be more generous towards your brother. "But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33 WEB)
We also want to encourage you as you take on the responsibility of caring for your brother. Remember that God will strengthen you and provide for you. "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." (Philippians 2:4 WEB)
Finally, we notice that your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to God. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus," (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB) "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12 WEB) We encourage you to believe in Jesus Christ and to trust Him in all situations.
Let us pray together for your family:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this family to Your throne of grace. Lord, we pray for the deliverance of your brother from alcoholism and smoking. Please heal him, Lord, and help him to honor You with his body. Strengthen your mother, Lord, and give her Your peace as she cares for your brother. Help your father, Lord, to put You first in his life and to be more generous towards your brother. And Lord, we pray for you, that You will provide for your family and give them the strength to care for your brother.
We also pray that each member of your family will come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. It is in His name that we pray and we believe that there is salvation in no other name.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
