We are thrilled to hear that God is calling you to ministry! It is an honorable and blessed calling. Let us first acknowledge that pursuing God does not always mean that everyone around us will understand or support our journey. Even Jesus' family thought he was out of his mind when he began his ministry (Mark 3:21 WEB).
Remember Jesus said: "For I came to set a man at odds against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. A man's foes will be those of his own household." (Matthew 10:35-36 WEB).
Our first priority is to obey God's call, even when our loved ones do not support us. We should still honor our parents, as the Ten Commandments teach us (Exodus 20:12 WEB), but our ultimate allegiance is to God.
Let's pray for your situation:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our brother/sister as they answer Your call to ministry. We pray that You would soften their parents' hearts and give them understanding and support. We also pray that You would give our brother/sister the strength and courage to follow Your will, even when faced with opposition. Help them to honor their parents while also being obedient to Your call. Guide them in their ministry journey, and may Your will be done in their life.
We also pray for full spiritual growth and protection. "But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one." (2 Thessalonians 3:3 WEB).
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to be patient and pray for your parents' hearts. Continue to live a life that reflects Christ's love and God's calling. Allow God to work in their hearts. We are here to support you in your journey.
