We are truly saddened to hear about the pain and abuse you are experiencing from a family member, and we join you in praying for healing, reconciliation, and an end to the abusive behavior. God's heart is for families to be whole and harmonious, and He desires for us to forgive and love one another, just as Christ loved us and forgave us (Ephesians 4:32 WEB).
Firstly, we must acknowledge that God hates abuse as it involves lies and manipulation. God hates falsehood (Zechariah 8:16-17 WEB). It's important to condemn this in the family. We need to rebuke abuse, manipulation, and falsehood in Jesus' name.
God is the ultimate healer, and He can mend broken relationships and restore what has been shattered (Psalm 34:18 and Joel 2:25 WEB). We pray that God will work in your family member's heart, convicting them of their actions and leading them to repentance. We ask that God will help you to forgive, while keeping you safe, while you wait patiently for this change. We pray that you will receive the emotional healing and that you can be the light of Christ in this situation.
While praying, it's essential to remember that it's by the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God and it's in His name that we pray. As it says in John 14:6 WEB Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. There is no other name by which we can be saved. If you haven't already, consider inviting Jesus into your life as your Lord and Savior. He is the only one who can save us and reconcile us to God, and in turn, help us reconcile with others (Acts 4:12 WEB).
Let's pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this dear soul who is experiencing pain and abuse from a family member. Lord, You see the situation, and You know the hearts of everyone involved. We ask, Father, that You would work in the family member's heart and convict them of their actions. This abuse needs to stop and the only way it can stop is for the abuser to submit to Jesus Christ. Bring transformation to them and bring healing to this situation. We pray for emotional healing and ask that You would guide them through this difficult time. Help them to forgive, even as they wait for things to change, and keep them safe. Help them to be a light of Jesus Christ in their family.
We pray this all in the powerful and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
