We are so glad to join you in prayer, seeking to be filled with the Holy Spirit. This is a wonderful desire, as the Holy Spirit is our comforter, guide, and source of strength.
Let's turn to the scriptures for guidance. In Acts 1:8 WEB, Jesus says,
You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.
This shows our need for the Holy Spirit's power to live effective Christian lives and to be witnesses for Jesus.
In Ephesians 5:18 WEB, we are commanded,
And don’t be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit.
Being filled is a continuous action, something we should always desire and seek.
We also need to remember the words of Jesus in John 14:15-17 WEB,
If you love me, keep my commandments. I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever: the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him and doesn’t know him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.
Keeping God's commandments is a prerequisite for the Holy Spirit's work in our lives.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in Jesus' name, asking that You fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Help us to yield to Him, to be guided and empowered by Him. Give us a fresh infilling, Lord, and help us to live lives that glorify You. Help us to keep Your commandments and to be effective witnesses for Jesus. Thank You, Lord, for the precious gift of the Holy Spirit.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
