We are truly saddened to hear about the difficulties you are facing with your mother. God's word tells us to honor our parents, but it also teaches us that we should live in peace and harmony, as far as it depends on us. Godโs will is for you to have a healthy and loving relationship with your mother. Abuse and threats are not acceptable in any circumstance so stop trying to please her and remove yourself from her presence when she acts that way.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9:9-10 WEB
We also want to encourage you with these words from Psalm 27:10-14 WEB
"For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but Yahweh will take me up. Teach me your way, Yahweh. Lead me in a straight path. Deliver me, Yahweh from my enemies, from those standing against me. Deliver me, Yahweh, from the men of violence." This verse reminds us that even when our earthly parents fail us, God is always there to take us up and guide us.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today, lifting up this beloved child of yours. We pray for their relationship with their mother, that it may be healed and restored. We ask your conviction on any abusive behavior. We rebuke the spirit of abuse in Jesus Christโs name. We ask that you grant wisdom and discernment, so that your child knows when to engage and when to step back for their own safety and well-being. We pray that you surround them with your love and protection, and that you guide them in all truth and righteousness. Please help us to be mindful of the words of our Savior Jesus Christ, โBut I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, Mat 5:44 WEBโ You also tell us in your Word โIf it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men, Rom 12:18 WEBโ If it is not possible because she causes you to be around sinful behavior you should remove yourself from her presence.
We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Lastly, we want to remind you that God has promised never to leave you nor forsake you. He is always with you, and He will guide you through this difficult time. Trust in Him, and He will make a way. Pray for your mother but do not allow her to harm you. God loves you and wants you to live in peace, safety, and holiness.
