We understand that you may feel like prayer does not work, but we want to encourage you with the truth from God's Word. The Bible tells us that prayer is powerful and effective. In James 5:16, it is written, "The effective, earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results."
First, let's address the foundation of prayer. Prayer is not merely a wish or a hope sent into the universe; it is a conversation with the living God, through the name of His Son, Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" And in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved."
If prayer does not work, consider if you have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Have you accepted Him as your Lord and Savior? If not, we encourage you to take this step of faith. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved (Acts 16:31).
Now, let's consider some reasons why prayers may seem unanswered. Sometimes, our prayers may not be according to God's will. In 1 John 5:14-15, it is written, "This is the confidence which we have before him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him." God knows what is best for us, and His answers may not always align with our desires.
Other times, our prayers may be hindered by unconfessed sin in our lives. In Psalm 66:18, it is written, "If I cherish iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." We must approach God with a pure heart, confessing our sins and seeking His forgiveness.
Lastly, our prayers may seem unanswered because God's timing is different from ours. In Habakkuk 2:3, it is written, "For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. It won’t delay." God's delays are not God's denials.
Let us pray for you, Elaermar:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Elaermar. Lord, we pray that You would reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way, that they may know that You are a God who hears and answers prayers. We pray that You would forgive them of any sins that may be hindering their prayers, and that You would give them the patience to wait on Your perfect timing. We ask that Your will be done in their life, and that they may have a personal relationship with Your Son, Jesus Christ.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged, Elaermar. God hears your prayers. Keep seeking Him, and trust in His perfect will for your life. Remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 7:7-8, "Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened."
