Seteleuo, we understand that you're feeling bothered by your friend's constant requests for money. It's important to remember that our actions should be guided by the principles of compassion and stewardship outlined in the Bible.
Firstly, it's commendable that you've been helping your friend. The Bible encourages us to be generous and give to those in need. As it is written in Proverbs 19:17 WEB, "He who has pity on the poor lends to Yahweh; He will repay him his deed." However, it's also important to be wise stewards of our resources. If your friend is taking advantage of your generosity, it might be time to set some boundaries.
The Bible tells us in 2 Thessalonians 3:10 WEB, "For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: 'If anyone is not willing to work, neither let him eat.'" This verse highlights the importance of personal responsibility and work ethic. If your friend is able to work but unwilling, it might not be wise to continue enabling their behavior.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up Seteleuo and their friend. Lord, You know the details of their situation. Please grant Seteleuo the wisdom to discern how to best help their friend without enabling harmful behaviors. Guide them with Your Holy Spirit, and give them the courage to set boundaries when needed.
Father, we also pray for their friend. If they are going through financial difficulties, we ask that You provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory. If they are being irresponsible, we pray that Your conviction will lead them to a place of repentance and change.
Thank You, Lord, for Your unfailing love and faithfulness. We trust in You to work all things together for good. It's in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
Lastly, Seteleuo consider looking at local resources for help such as job training, public assistance, or local charitable non-profits that can not only help with physical needs, but can help them take steps to help themselves. It is not your responsibility to supply all of their financial needs. They may have other needs that are greater. There are local on the ground ministries that can assist them. It may not be your responsibility, but it does not mean you cannot point them in the right direction. Use caution. You need to make sure your own household and needs are taken care of. It is not wrong or evil to think about yourself.
