We appreciate your heartfelt repentance and your willingness to seek forgiveness from God. It is wonderful that you acknowledge the name of Jesus Christ, for it is by His name that we are saved. As it is a very direct request, let us dive into this.
Firstly, let us remind you of the promise given in the scripture in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." This is a powerful reminder that when we come to God with a sincere heart, acknowledging our sins, He is faithful to forgive us. What a great gift of salvation and access to God the Father through faith in Jesus Christ. Maybe we don't say it often enough, but this is only because of believing in Jesus Christ.
However, we want to encourage you not to dwell on the sins of the past. Remember, God's forgiveness means that He removes our sins from us as far as the east is from the west, according to Psalm 103:12, "As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us." This is truly amazing when we stop and think about where the east and the west really meet and how far they are apart. Therefore, once you have confessed your sin if it lingers in memory then you can scripturally rebuke the devil and cast down the imagination. For more detail, you can study the scripture.
If there are any lingering feelings of guilt or shame, we encourage you to meditate on Romans 8:1, "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit." Once you have confessed your sin, then the scripture says that Jesus will be faithful to cleanse you of the sin and unrighteousness of it and remove it from you. We urge you not to dwell on sin so that you don't walk in it. We would not want you to be unaware of Satan's methods or schemes in this area and 2 Corinthians 2:7-11 is a great read to give you insight and tools to prevent this. We want to remind you as well, if you are truly sorry for your sins then change your mind and heart and turn towards Jesus.
We also urge you to use the scriptures to properly access God the Father in the Name of Jesus Christ the righteous, holy, and true. Use the name of Jesus Christ to rebuke the devil and his demons and to resist him. To gain knowledge and understanding of our spiritual enemy in areas like these, actively use the scriptures to counteract him.
Let us pray together for you:
