We understand that you're seeking help to overcome the past, and we're here to pray with you and provide biblical encouragement.
Firstly, we commend you for ending your prayer with "in Jesus Christ name. Amen." This is crucial because Jesus says, "Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full." (John 16:23-24 WEB)
The past can be a heavy burden to carry, but we're reminded in the Bible that God is the one who can set us free from such burdens. The Apostle Paul says, "Brothers, I don't consider that I have yet laid hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:13-14 WEB)
We can't change the past, but God can help us overcome it and live a new life in Christ. He promises, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB)
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister in Christ who is struggling to overcome their past. Father, we ask that You grant them the strength and courage to let go of what's behind and press forward to what's ahead. Help them to fix their eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
Lord, we thank You.
.We pray that You heal with the platitude of your grace and love any wounds of the past and may God act sovereignly through circumstances that cannot be changed."
Whenever they are reminded of the past, may the thoughts and memories be rerouted into acts of service towards those loved by God, and for gratitude for any opportunity graciously provided by God to remedy wrongs."
We ask this all in Jesus Christ name. Amen.
