We understand your desire for your mother to see you through the eyes of Jesus and be grateful for your role in her life.
First, we encourage you to meditate on the Word of God and the faithfulness of Christ. In Ephesians 1:7 WEB, it states, "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace." The forgiveness and grace we receive from Jesus is the foundation of our identity. It is not our deeds that determine our worth, but His love for us.
The relationship between a mother and child is unique and important.
In Ephesians 6:1-2 WEB, it states, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor your father and mother,' which is the first commandment with a promise."
We must understand that while we should strive to live in a manner that honors our parents and pleases God, their perception of us may not always align with God's truth. We cannot control how others perceive us, but we can control how we love and serve them.
We must be patient and forgiving, remembering that Ephesians 4:32 WEB, states, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."
We must remember to love our mother through Christ. In 1 John 4:7 WEB, it states, "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God, and knows God."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with a humble heart, lifting up our beloved mother to You. Lord, we ask that You open her eyes to see the truth of who we are in Christ. Help her to be grateful for our role in her life and to appreciate the love and care we offer.
Help us, Lord, to be patient and forgiving, to love our mother as You have loved us. Help us to live in a manner that honors her and pleases You.
We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
