Richard P, we hear your heart's cry and stand with you in prayer. The Bible tells us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12, WEB). It's important to recognize that the enemy can use us to spread discord, even when we don't intend to.
Firstly, let's confess this to God. Our merciful Father is always ready to forgive us when we come to Him with a repentant heart. As it is written, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, WEB).
Let's pray together:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, confessing and renouncing the sin of spreading rumours and false information. We ask for Your forgiveness, Lord. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Help us, Lord, to be people of truth and integrity, reflecting Your character. Give us the strength to resist the enemy's attempts to use us to spread discord. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Going forward, let's be mindful of what we say and share. The Bible tells us, "Set a guard, WEB, to my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips" (Psalm 141:3, WEB). Before sharing information, let's ensure it's true and beneficial. As it is written, "Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things" (Philippians 4:8, WEB).
Remember, our words have the power to build up or tear down. Let's strive to use them for good, always glorifying God in what we say and do. "Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one" (Colossians 4:6, WEB).
Lastly, it's crucial to stay close to God, reading His word and communing with Him in prayer. This helps us to live a life pleasing to Him. As Psalm 119:11 says, "I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you" (WEB).
Stay strong in the Lord, Richard. We're praying for you.
