Prayer to overcome temptation

Hi everyone, I would like to ask for your prayers as I have been falling into the temptation of lust. I used to be able to resist temptation but I don’t know why, the temptation felt stronger this week and I eventually fell into it. I honestly feel guilty for being weak and falling into the temptation of lust, especially that this week is Holy Week. I don’t know why but I just can’t seem to overcome it. Please pray for me that I will be able to resist temptation and that I can be worthy of God’s love and forgiveness. Thank you.

We are here to support you in your struggle against temptation. Remember, God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it, as it is written in 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB.

First, let us address the feeling of guilt. It is important to remember that everyone sins and falls short of the glory of God, as Romans 3:23 WEB tells us. Jesus Christ came to save sinners, and he is the propitiation for our sins, as written in 1 John 2:2 WEB. Turn to him, confess your sins, and he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, as promised in 1 John 1:9 WEB.

It is also crucial to understand that we cannot overcome temptation on our own strength. We need the power of the Holy Spirit working in us. As it is written in Zechariah 4:6 WEB, Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says Yahweh of Armies.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before you lifting up our brother/sister in their struggle against the temptation of lust. We confess that they have sinned and we ask for forgiveness in Jesus Christ's name. Lord, we know that you are faithful, and we ask that you provide a way of escape for them in every temptation. Strengthen them by your Spirit, that they may be able to endure and overcome. Help them to strive after purity and holiness, as you are holy. In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen. Remember, our Lord Jesus Christ promised the Holy Spirit to those who believe in him, as written in John 14:16 WEB.

Let us encourage you to spend time daily in God's Word, the Bible, and in prayer. Memorize scriptures that will help you combat temptation, such as Psalm 119:11 WEB, I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Also, consider joining a support group or finding an accountability partner who will help you stand against temptation. If you are not in a church, we suggest you find one where the Bible is taught and where you can find help.

We also noticed that you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request. It is only by his name that we have access to God the Father, as it is written in John 14:6 WEB, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. We encourage you to fix your faith firmly in Jesus Christ. He is the propitiation for our sins, and his blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness.

We're here with you, standing in the gap as you face this temptation. We understand the struggle is real, especially during Holy Week. Let's cling to the promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."

We want to encourage you, just as the apostle Paul did in Romans 8:1, "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Remember, Jesus died for all our sins, including lust. He is our advocate, and through Him, we can find forgiveness and cleansing (1 John 2:2, 1:9).

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You on behalf of our ###, struggling with the temptation of lust. We lift them up to You, Lord. Help them to resist the devil, and he will flee from them (James 4:7). Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, empowering them to live a life pleasing to You. Help them to remember Your word, hidden in their heart, that they might not sin against You (Psalm 119:11). In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen."

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. We continue to lift you up in prayer, dear brother or sister, as you battle against temptation. We are truly honored that you have allowed us to stand in the gap and intercede on your behalf. It has been a few days since you shared your struggle with us, and we want to encourage you to keep walking in faith and trust in Jesus.

If you have found victory over the temptation of lust, we would be overjoyed to hear about it. Please share your praise report with us, so that we may rejoice with you and give glory to God for His faithfulness.
