We understand that you are struggling with a habitual sin, specifically the viewing of pornography on your mobile device, and that it is affecting your prayer life. First, we want to thank you for your honesty and your desire to change. We are reminded in 1 John 1:9, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We must first recognize and rebuke this sinful behavior. It is important to understand that engaging in this activity is a sin against your own body and against God. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 says, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
To overcome this temptation, we encourage you to take practical steps. Remove any apps or websites that lead to this temptation. Consider installing accountability software on your device. Also, be open to godly counsel and support from fellow believers.
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in Jesus' name, lifting up our brother/sister in Christ who is struggling with the sin of pornography. Lord, we know that this is not your will for their life and that it is hindering their relationship with you. We ask that you forgive them and cleanse them from this sin. Give them the strength to flee from this temptation and to live a life that is pleasing to you.
Guide them to resources and people who can support them in this journey. Help them to understand the seriousness of this sin and the impact it has on their spiritual life. Replace this habit with a hunger and thirst for your Word and your presence.
We claim 2 Peter 2:9 for them which says but the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment.
Thank you, Lord, for your faithfulness and your grace. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ.
Now, we encourage you to also spend time praising God and seeking Him more. As you grow closer to Him, you will desire more of Him and less of sin. Always remember, submitting to God and drawing near to Him is the way to resist the devil and make him flee as it says in James 4:7-8.
We are here with you in spirit, praying and believing that God will deliver you from this habitual sin. Keep fighting the good fight of faith. Stand strong in the power of Jesus Christ.
We also want to mention, that we are praying in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to God. As it says in John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
If you have not already, ask Him to forgive your sins, turn from them and begin to live for Him. This will bring about a changed life and align yourself with His will. It is only by believing in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross that we can be saved. Remember Romans 10:9 because, if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
