Let us stand together with you in prayer, seeking God's will for your life. It's wonderful that you have ideas about how you want to live, but it's important to align those desires with God's purpose for you. Remember, "For I know the plans that I have for you, says Yahweh, plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future" Jeremiah 29:11 WEB.
First, let us address the tendency to procrastinate and not follow through on your goals. The Bible tells us, "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, where you are going" Ecclesiastes 9:10 WEB. It's crucial to act on your goals and not merely have good intentions.
Let us also consider the power of writing down your goals. The Bible highlights the importance of writing things down. In Habakkuk 2:2 WEB, God instructs the prophet, "Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he who runs may read it." Writing down your goals can provide clarity, focus, and a constant reminder of what you're working towards.
Regarding the activities you start but do not finish, let us remember the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30 WEB. God expects us to be faithful and productive with the gifts and opportunities He gives us. It's not enough to start something; we must also complete it to the best of our abilities.
Now, let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our brother/sister in Christ. We thank You for the plans and purposes You have for their life. Help them to align their desires with Your will and give them the strength and discipline to act on their goals.
Father, we ask ###, that You would help in writing down these goals and provide the focus and determination to follow through on the activities started. Help them to be faithful and productive with the gifts and opportunities You have given.
Help them to be a doer of Your word, and not a hearer only, deceiving themselves. For if any are hearers of the word and not doers, they are like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror. For he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does. James 1:22-25 WEB.
We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
