We are glad to join you in prayer and stand with you as you seek to get back on track with the Lord. It is wonderful that you have this desire, and we want to encourage you to take steps toward growing in your relationship with Him. Remember the words of Jesus in Revelation 3:20 WEB, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who desires to draw near to You. Lord, You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We confess any areas of sin and ask for Your forgiveness. We pray that You would grant them a renewed mind and spirit, and that they would be fully committed to You in every way.
Lord, guide them in Your truth. Give them a hunger and thirst for Your Word, and a desire to be in constant communication with You through prayer. Strengthen their faith, and help them to trust in You with all their heart. Help them to not lean on their own understanding. In all their ways help them acknowledge You, and You will make their paths straight. Lord, help them straighten out any crooked path. Bring anything crooked to them so they can make it straight. Help them be a light in the world, that others may see their good works and glorify You, our Father in heaven.
We ask that You would surround them with godly influences and remove any temptations that may hinder their walk with You. Help them be willing to make hard choices and cut out anything that comes between them and You. Help them pursue holiness in their life. Help them be deliberate in their life and make decisions that please You.
Give them a spirit of wisdom and revelation in their knowledge of You, and open the eyes of their heart so that they can know the hope to which You have called them and know the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged by the words of Paul in Philippians 1:6 WEB, "being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." Keep pressing on, and remember that God is faithful to complete the work He has started in you.
Keep your focus on the Lord and His Word. Consider reading Psalms to praise and worship the Lord. You can then turn this into prayer by praying the scriptures back to the Lord. You can talk to the Lord about what you read. It is also a great idea to read the gospels to learn more about Jesus. Consider then reading Romans, Ephesians, and the rest of the New Testament. All of these will give you an understanding of the Gospel, your new life in Christ, and your salvation.
We encourage you to find a Bible-believing church where you can fellowship with other believers and grow in your faith together. It is important to have a church home that can be a family to you. This also means that you are involved in the church and not just someone who attends.
If you have not been baptized, consider doing this. This is an important step in your Christian life. You should be baptized by someone that is being led by the Holy Spirit. This can be a pastor or someone that walks with the Lord. This is a public confession of faith and shows that you are cutting off your old life and starting your new life in Jesus Christ.
As you grow in your faith, remember to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18 WEB), so that you can stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2 WEB), and run the race that is set before you.
Lastly, we want to mention that in your prayer request you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is important to know that we only have access to God the Father through Jesus Christ.
John 14:6 tells us Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."
It is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved.
Acts 4:12 tells us "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
We are not trying to pick on you, but this is very important. So many people today want to water down the gospel and make it more inclusive, but this is not possible. You cannot add anything to the gospel and you cannot take anything from it. It is what it is. If you change the gospel, it is then a false gospel and cannot save you.
Do you know for certain that if you died today that you would go to heaven? Have you repented of your sin? Do you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sin and that He rose from the dead? Remember that salvation is by faith alone, in Christ alone.
Romans 3:23 tells us "for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;"
Romans 6:23 tells us "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 5:8 tells us "But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 10:9-11 tells us "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed"
Romans 10:13 tells us "For, Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Call out to God to save you. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and you will be saved.
