We are truly sorry to hear about your grave illness and the concern that you might not be able to see your child's marriage. We stand with you and your family and we want to pray for you and your child, trusting in God's goodness and mercy. We are holding on to the assurance of knowing that whatever God does or allows in our lives is for our good and His glory.
First, it is beautiful that you are praying to and addressing our Lord Jesus Christ. In the first place, it is so important to believe in Jesus Christ. And all who believe in Him will be saved. This means saved from hell, but it also means saved from all our worries, fears, and sickness in this life. Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. It is important to know that God loves you and sent His son Jesus Christ to take your punishment for sin. Believe in him, and you will be saved. Jesus died on the Cross and rose from the grave, defeating death. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus has power over all things and heals all our diseases. This can mean healing in this life or the resurrected body in heaven.
In this world we will have trials and troubles, but know that Jesus has overcome the world. Do not be anxious about anything. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Let us acknowledge that God has the final say, and His grace is always sufficient. He does not always heal us in this life, but has a better plan. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Let us turn to Him for comfort and healing. We are so glad you have addressed your prayer to Jesus and did not leave this out as many do. It is only by his name, the name of Jesus Christ, we can be healed, have access to the Father, and be saved.
"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective." James 5:14-16 WEB
"Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed. Save me, and I shall be saved: for you are my praise." Jeremiah 17:14 WEB
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, seeking Your healing and comfort for our fellow believer. We know that You are the Great Physician, and that nothing is impossible with You. We pray for healing, that You would restore health and remove all sickness. We also pray for peace that surpasses all understanding, that You would guard hearts and minds of all involved. Father, we thank You for the gift of marriage and for the joy that it brings. We ask that You would allow this parent to witness the marriage of their child, but ultimately we want Your will to be done.
Lord Jesus, give grace and wisdom to the family during this time, remembering that marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and that it is a sacred institution established by You. We celebrate it and we want to be like you. We rebuke the culture of divorce, adultery, sexual immorality, and fornication of our culture. In Jesus' name, we pray for healing, for strength, and for a miraculous testimony of Your power and goodness to be displayed. We pray that you would raise them up to shine for the gospel and to glorify you.
Lord, we also pray for the child's future spouse, that You would guide them and prepare them for a godly marriage. We pray that You would bless the upcoming marriage, that it would be a testament to Your love and faithfulness. We ask this all in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to continue trusting in the Lord, and to keep your eyes fixed on Him. Remember that God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. He sees the bigger picture and knows what is best for us. We encourage you with the lyrics of the hymn Trust and Obey: "When we walk with the Lord in the light of His word, what a glory He sheds on our way! While we do His good will, He abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey. Trust and obey, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey."
