We understand your desire to reconnect with your parents, and we will pray with you and provide some scripture to help you begin to heal the past.
Firstly, we must address that you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to God. As it says in the Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" We need to direct our prayers to God in Jesus' name. It is important to know that salvation is received through faith in Jesus Christ and we become children of God and can then approach Him. If you have not made a declaration of faith in Jesus Christ, we can help you understand how to do it.
Now, let's address your concern. The Bible tells us to honor our fathers and mothers (Ephesians 6:2), but it also recognizes that relationships can be strained or broken. Jesus himself said that he came to turn family members against each other (Matthew 10:35-36), not because he wanted families to be divided, but because his message would cause divisions. Sometimes, following Jesus means that our family relationships become strained.
We can pray that God will work on you and your family. God is able to heal broken relationships. We will pray together that God will soften your parents' hearts to help your relationship with them.
Let us pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus to lift up this person and their family. Lord, you know the situation and the strained relationship. We ask that you work in the hearts of their parents, that they would be open to reconnecting. Help them to see the love that this person has for them, and help them to respond in kind.
We also pray for healing, for forgiveness, and for restoration. Please guide them and help them to take the steps necessary to repair this relationship. We ask that you would give them wisdom and discernment, and that you would surround them with people who can support and encourage them.
Most importantly, Lord, we ask that you would draw them closer to you. Help them to know your love and your grace, and help them to extend that love and grace to others.
We ask all these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
Remember, God is faithful and He cares about every detail of our lives. Trust in Him and rest in His love for you. Take comfort in the words of Romans 8:28, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose." Keep loving and honoring your parents, even if they don't respond in kind. God sees your faithfulness and He will honor it.
