We understand your desires for your child's education and your work success. However, we must acknowledge the highest authority, which is God. He knows the best academic environment for your child's spiritual and intellectual growth. It's possible that God has a different plan for your child's education, one that may not necessarily include college right away, but perhaps a trade, job corps, or a gap year for travel, ministry, or volunteering.
First, we must recognize Jesus and that we are to do all things in his name. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him. Whatever we ask we must ask in Jesus name, that's why we must acknowledge the importance of Jesus. And whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it. We must believe in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, in order to be saved. Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the Good News which I preached to you, which also you received, and in which you stand; by which also you are saved, if you hold firmly the word which I preached to you or else you have believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures.
Let's pray for God's guidance in your child's future and for your success at work. Let's pray for your child to have a heart for God and to follow his will whether at college, a job, volunteering, or at church. We must pray for a career that furthers God's will rather than worldly success.
Dear Jesus,
We come before you, acknowledging that you know what is best and is the way, the truth, and the life and that no one comes to the Father except through you. We pray for this parent and their child. Lord, guide this child's steps and open doors for their future according to your will. If it is your plan for them to attend college, please make it clear and provide a path for them, that they would not just see college as a way to get a good job, but to be a light to the world and serve you. Help them to grow spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually, wherever you may lead.
We also lift up the parent's work life. Lord, be with them in their workplace. Help them to be an example of a true Christian, and to do all things for your glory. We ask that you would bless their work and use it to further your kingdom. Guide them as a parent and in their career and we ask this in Jesus name.
In Jesus name we pray.
We encourage you to trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Keep God at the center of your desires. May God bless you and your child.
