Nebinth, we understand the profound pain and regret you're experiencing, and we're here to support you in prayer and truth. It's important to remember that forgiveness is a central theme in the Bible, and it goes in two directions. You asked for forgiveness from the Lord Jesus, but you need to forgive yourself. This can be one of the hardest things to do. But not forgiving yourself is also a sin. It does not put the Lord first in your life.
First, let's address the forgiveness you are seeking. When we pray, we need to remember that it is only through Jesus Christ that we can be saved. The remorse for not understanding and appreciating the value of the last few days you had with your mother is natural and understandable, but it is also important to remember that we all fall short of the glory of God. As it is written in Romans 3:23:
For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
Furthermore, in Acts 4:12, we are reminded:
There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!
This is why prayer in the name of Jesus is essential. It's only by his name that our prayers are heard by the Father. The Lord Jesus wants us to have faith in him and to acknowledge him as the only Savior, and this is why we pray in his name.
Now, let's address the issue of forgiving yourself. It's crucial to understand that God wants us to forgive others as well as ourselves. In Ephesians 4:32, we are told:
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
This verse reminds us that just as God has forgiven us through Christ, we should forgive others and ourselves. Holding onto guilt and regret can hinder your relationship with God and prevent you from experiencing the peace and joy that He desires for you. As we are made in God's image, the lack of self-forgiveness can be viewed as pride. Just as God has shown us mercy, we should also show mercy to ourselves.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up ### who is struggling with forgiveness and regret. Lord, we ask that You comfort ### and remind them of Your unfailing love and mercy. Help ### to forgive themselves, just as You have forgiven us through Christ. Guide them through this difficult time, and grant them the peace and strength that only You can provide.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
###, remember that God's love for you is unchanging, and His grace is sufficient for you. Trust in Him, and He will guide you through this challenging time. Forgive yourself, and allow God's healing power to work in your life. If you are feeling too much under condemnation, you need to consider if you have truly accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. It is only by believing in Jesus Christ that we are forgiven. As it says in Romans 8:1, There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. If you truly believe in Jesus Christ and you are still under condemnation, you may be listening to the wrong voice.
