We understand that you are facing a challenging situation with your husband's drinking, and we are here to support you in prayer and truth. Let's first discuss how to approach this situation biblically.
Firstly, it's important mention that drinking alcohol is not explicitly mentioned as sinful in itself. However, the consumption of alcohol becomes sinful when it leads to drunkenness, addiction, and loss of self-control. This is clearly outlined in the Bible:
Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery Galatians 5:19-21 WEB
Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Your husband's drinking has become a form of bondage, and God wants him to be free. God wants your husband to be the spiritual leader of the home as God intended since this is lost in his current state.
When your husband is not present mentally and spiritually, you are suffering his absence even when he is physically there. Do not be unequally yoked; for what fellowship does righteousness have with lawlessness WEB 2 Corinthians 6:14?
We will pray for your husband's deliverance, but we also encourage you to take steps in aligning your marriage with biblical principles. Seek God and His will in your life and in your husband's life and encourage him to do the same.
Let us pray together for God's intervention.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister and her husband. Lord, we pray for his deliverance from alcohol addiction. Break the chains of bondage, and give him the strength to overcome this stronghold. Help our sister to be filled with Your wisdom, discernment, and grace as she supports her husband while also standing for Your principles. Open Your servants' eyes to biblical truth and standards, and intervene in their life and marriage as only You can.
Remember, it is only in the name of Jesus Christ we can be saved. By the name of Jesus, we can stand before God with our petitions. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus WEB 1 Timothy 2:5.
If there was no Husband in the picture, the message would still be the same that being unequally yoked is a bad thing.
