We understand your feelings of helplessness and the pain of losing your mother suddenly. The void and the unanswered questions can be overwhelming, but we want to remind you that God is there. He can hear you and can bring peace and help with this complicated grief. He can fill this void. He loves you and will listen to your cries to him. Our relationship with God can be close and real like that of a loving mother. Even when our loved ones are gone and unreachable, He can give us solace.
Praying to Mary, angels, or any other being other than God is idolatry. All help comes from God the Father, his Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18 WEB)
Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30 WEB)
In your grief, remember that God cares for you and wants to comfort you. It's normal to have questions and to feel the pain of things left unsaid, but we encourage you to take these thoughts to God in prayer.
Father, we lift up the one grieving before you right now. We know your heart aches for your child just as your child is aching now for their mother. God, we know that you are here with them even in this grief. Father, please wrap them in your comfort. Please quiet the pain and fill this void. Let the thoughts and memories be pleasant and fill the gaps where things were left unsaid. Heal this pain, God. Give answers, closure, and comfort, so that you may be glorified in their life.
Finally, we want to remind you that it's in Jesus Christ, you can find eternal comfort and hope. His death and resurrection bring life and eternal perspective.
In Jesus' name.
