Roshan, we join you in your prayer, standing in agreement before the throne of grace. Firstly we would like to address a few points that were raised in this submission before discussing them in prayer. There are a few challenges in this request that we must confront that do not align with biblical principles.
Roshan, there is nothing occasional or social about drinking alcohol. Total abstinence is the only option for a believer in Jesus Christ. Those that drink a little will desire more and more and it will begin to control you. It is a sin against your body and against God. Stop drinking alcoholic beverages. The drinking habit you have is sin, put it away and do not ask God to bless you in what is sin.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 WEB Abstain from every form of evil.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Next, the way you frame your concerns regarding your debts and finances is problematic. You are turning to God for help in your finances but are you being a good steward of what you have? What plans have you made to pay your debts? What steps have you taken to stop the harassment? What is your plan to manage the money you have and be content with it? Let us keep these things in mind as we pray with you.
Romans 13:8 WEB Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
1 Timothy 6:6-10 WEB But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can’t take anything out of the world. But having food and clothing, we will be content with that. But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Now let us join together in prayer for you and these challenges, aligning ourselves with the will of the Father.
Father in Heaven, we give you praise for your steadfast love and mercy. We ask that you would forgive Roshan for the sin of drinking and the desire to manage or control this sin rather than stopping it altogether. Father you are faithful to forgive us when we repent of our sins.
1 John 1:9 19 WEB If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Father we come before you now, asking that you would help Roshan overcome the sins in his life. First take away his drinking habit. Help him to overcome his debt, to stop the harassment and to be a good steward of what he has been entrusted with. Father, we ask for Roshan in faith believing that you will supply his need for your glory and his good.
Philippians 4:6 WEB In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
Father we ask you for guidance and your will in finding a suitable marriage partner for Roshan. Father lead him in this endeavor to seek a marriage that would glorify you and be a godly spouse in a godly marriage.
Father we ask for your blessings and healing on Roshan's mother, family and all those he has petitioned you for. For your glory and for their salvation.
We ask all these things with thanksgiving in Jesus Christ Name, Amen.
In closing we would like to encourage you with a word from the WEB.
Matthew 6:25-34 WEB Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they? Which of you, by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan? Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin, yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won’t he much more clothe you, you of little faith? Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.
Take heart in the those verses written in the WEB and know that our prayers are with you. We pray that God will bless you and your family and help you walk in His path. Let God's peace and love be with you in Jesus Christ Name. Amen.
