We are truly concerned for your husband's health and spiritual well-being. We will stand with you in prayer so that he may find freedom from his drinking habit and be restored to full health.
Firstly, let us remember that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are to honor God with them. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB, "Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."
Drinking is not the issue as much as being drunk. The Bible says not to be drunk but to be filled with the Holy Spirit in Ephesians 5:18 WEB, "Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit". Drunkenness is listed as a sin in Galatians 5:21. A person will not inherit the kingdom of God if they continue to live in drunkenness.
We pray that your husband may find the strength and grace to give up this habit. Let us pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our ###'s husband to You. Lord, You know his struggles and the hold that drinking has on his life. We ask, in the name of Jesus, that You would set him free from this bondage. Give him the strength to overcome this habit, and restore his health. Heal his body, Lord, and bring his blood pressure and cholesterol levels back to normal.
We also pray for his spiritual well-being. Draw him closer to You, Lord. Help him to see that his body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and to honor You with it. Fill him with the Holy Spirit, Lord, and help him to live a life of freedom in Christ.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to support your husband in prayer and in practical ways. Remind him of God's love for him and His power to set him free. Also, consider seeking help from a Christian counselor or a support group for additional assistance.
Lastly, we want to remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. It is written in John 14:6 WEB, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me". If you have not already, we encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ for your salvation.
