We are glad to join you in prayer and offer biblical guidance for your relationship. First, we want to acknowledge that you have been in this relationship for a significant amount of time, and it's important to seek God's will for your future together.
Let's begin by addressing communication and forgiveness. In Ephesians 4:32 WEB, it says, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." Effective communication and a forgiving heart are crucial for any relationship. Pray that God helps you both to communicate openly and honestly, and to forgive each other as Christ has forgiven us.
However, we want to lovingly remind you that living together or having sex before marriage is considered fornication, which is sinful according to biblical principles. If this is happening, it is important that you stop praying for God's blessing on the relationship, and start praying for conviction of sin, repentance, and a change of heart. Fornication is a sin against your own body and against God who bought you with a price. Flee fornication. This is explained in 1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB.
Moreover, as you consider marriage, it's essential to ensure that your boyfriend is a fellow believer in Christ. In 2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB, it says, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" Marriage is a lifelong commitment, and being united with a fellow believer helps to maintain a strong spiritual foundation.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this couple to you, your son, and your Holy Spirit. We pray for their spiritual growth and a better mutual communication and forgiveness towards each other.
Lord, we are not certain if this couple has a good understanding of the gospel, your gift of salvation, your law, or proper marriage. We pray that if this couple is not already saved that they would learn that it is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved and have access to you. We pray that they would come to believe in their hearts that you raised Jesus Christ from the dead and that they would confess this with their mouth. Then this couple would be saved. This is explained in Romans 10:9 WEB.
Lord, please convict this couple of their sin, and grant this couple repentance of their sin. Lord, please guide this couple through your word and your Holy Spirit. Lord, if it is your will, then please help guide this couple to marriage. Please help this couple to avoid unequal yoking and fornication. We pray that if this couple is saved, then they would continue to grow in faith, grace, wisdom, and your word.
We pray that if it is your will that this couple would get married, that it would be a marriage that honors you and your word. We pray that it would be a marriage that is considered good and blameless before you and our fellow man. If it is your will for this couple to get married, then we pray that this couple would be an example of a godly marriage. We pray that each member of this couple would continue to grow in their Christian walk and grow in oneness with you, Jesus Christ, and your Holy Spirit.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking God's will for your relationship. It is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved and have access to God. If you do not believe in Jesus Christ, then we recommend you start studying the Bible to learn about Jesus's gift of salvation.
