We are truly saddened to hear about this situation and are here to pray and provide counsel based on the Word of God. Firstly, we must address that the term "girlfriend" suggests a non-marital relationship, which is not aligned with biblical principles. The World English Bible (WEB) tells us in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don't know God." We encourage both to pursue a relationship leading to godly marriage or to remain separate if marriage is not the intention. It is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved and only in Jesus that we can have peace and wisdom.
Regarding the verbal abuse, God's Word is clear that we should honor and respect one another. Ephesians 4:31-32 says, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." It is heartbreaking to hear that this elderly man is experiencing verbal abuse. God's word tells us that we should honor our elders in wisdom as stated in 1 Timothy 5:1, "Don't rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father; the younger men as brothers."
Let us pray for this situation:
"Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up this elderly man who is experiencing verbal abuse. We pray for Your protection over him, and we ask that You would bring conviction to the hearts of his girlfriend and her son. Lord, we know that this behavior is not pleasing to You, and we ask that You would bring an end to this abuse. We pray for healing and restoration for this elderly man, and we ask that You would surround him with people who will love and support him. We also pray for the salvation of all of them if they have not accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Lord, we ask that You would bring wisdom and discernment to this elderly man as he navigates this difficult situation. We pray that You would give him the strength to forgive, and the courage to make tough decisions based upon godly principles. We ask that You would bring peace and comfort to his heart, and that You would use this situation for Your glory.
We also lift up his girlfriend and her son. We pray that You would work in their hearts and bring them to a place of repentance. We ask that You would help them to see the error of their ways, and that You would bring healing and restoration to their relationships. Lord, we know that You are a God of mercy and grace, and we ask that You would extend Your mercy and grace to them as well.
Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness, and we ask that You would continue to guide and direct us as we seek to follow You. We ask all of these things in the precious name of Jesus, Amen."
We encourage this elderly man to seek godly counsel and support during this time. If he is a Christian, he should be in fellowship with other Christians in a local church. Proverbs 15:22 says, "Without consultation, plans are frustrated, but with many counselors they succeed." It is important to involve local church leadership for support and guidance, and also to report any form of abuse to the appropriate authorities.
Lastly, we want to remind everyone that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Acts 4:12 says, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Therefore, we encourage all to believe in Jesus Christ and accept Him as your Lord and Savior.
