Humble Prayer Warrior
Would you please pray for God's intervention in this financial conflict? One of our customers (a big national company) changed their mind about the conditions of the photographic assignment that my husband has done for them. They claimed that they didn't want an extent of work my husband had already put into that photo shoot, even though they preliminarily agreed on it, invited him over to their facility twice and let him take pictures for many hours (2-day photo shoot). After all the job was done they tried to pay only for a part of the job (the quality of my husband's work was never in question: they loved the pictures) and after several e-mail exchanges they informed us that they were calling the whole deal off (!) $1600-worth work and they simply said: never mind! We feel robbed and exploited. It seems that in their arrogance they think they can simply disregard us as my husband is a self-employed, free-lance photographer - no match for a big corporation (classic David-Goliath situation). The passage from James 5: 4-5 comes to mind: "Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. You have lived on the earth in luxury and in self-indulgence. You have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter."
Now we have to consider a legal action to persuade the company to fulfill their financial obligation, though we have no money to hire a lawyer. Hopefully we can get some legal assistance from a photographic association my husband belongs to, though we are not sure about the expenses. Please pray that the Lord help us resolve the issue and get paid what has been negotiated: we only want justice to be served - to be paid for the hard work and paid what it's worth. May the Lord grant us His wisdom regarding our next step, favor in the eyes of the law and grace to receive the payment.
