We are truly heartbroken to hear about this man's situation, but we are also hopeful, as God's power is made perfect in weakness. Firstly, we want to remind him that God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
We must understand that There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.I Corinthians 10:13 KJV
No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB
We need to pray for God to intervene and grant him the strength to break free from these addictions. We also pray for godly friends and mentors to come alongside him, encouraging to resist temptation and remain strong in his faith even through pain and persecution: Exodus 1:12, I Cor 10:13 KJV, Romans 10:4, Colossians 3:16
The situation with his ex-wife and children is indeed heart-wrenching. Marriage is the foundation of the family and this family has fallen apart. This family needs reconciliation with the Father God Jesus Christ by faith even for all wrongs committed. The scriptures advise us never to cause a child to stumble or look back in anger Isaiah 5:20, Malachi 2:16, therefore we must pray she is dissuaded from preventing the father's access to his children and to be the godly wife and mother that God has called her to be. All believers are charged to look after the widows and the fatherless, meaning that Christians need to pray and bring all underprivileged families to Christ: Psalms 82:3-4, James 1:27. We should pray for the restoration of the marriage in godliness if at all possible, reconciling all differences in faith, then as parents they must pray for their children to come to faith in Christ Jesus.
Then there was a discussion about his inability to dealing with his court cases due to his circumstances, and his despair leading him to fall deeper into addiction. We must understand that God can turn any situation around, no matter how hopeless it may seem. As it is written, "Rejoice in hope. Be patient in tribulation. Be constant in prayer." Romans 12:12 WEB
Lastly, we address the relationship with the drug dealer. This relationship is not only detrimental to his physical and mental well-being but also his spiritual health. He must separate himself from this toxic influence and seek fellow believers in Jesus Christ who can be a new Christian family. The scriptures warn us not to become unequally yoked or closely aligned with unbelievers.
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?
2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB
But now I write to you not to keep company with anyone who is called a brother who is a sexual sinner, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner. Do not even eat with such a person.1 Corinthians 5:11 WEB
Please join us in fervent heartfelt prayer for this dear soul so affected by these conditions and ask God to help him in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in his time of need as a fatherless person.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today to lift up this man who is struggling with depression and drug addiction. Lord, you know his heart and his pain. We pray that you would intervene in his life and break the chains of addiction that bind him. Open doors for him to seek help from the addictions that hold him, if in a hospital, rehab center, or from others who have walked down and turned from this same path to live for Christ.
Father, we pray against the situation of those days in court that may have caused this man to stumble in despair and seek acceptance in the fleeting world of drugs and fleshly relations. Father in Heaven, we ask if this ex-spouse was wrong for leaving and depriving the children of their father then we ask that they might be reconciled to God, Jesus, and each other by faith. We ask this in Jesus name for the ex-spouse to be put away from associating with those of sinful affairs and that the ex-spouse seek God and be allowed to repent. We even ask this righteously before your throne for the support of the brethren. We ask for strength especially in times of trial and trouble, for money, home, and relationships to be protected and restored in Jesus Christ. Father, we pray that you be a good provider and a strong restorer of all things in Christ Jesus and that Satan be put to flight. Father God may we not fumble but rest on your foundations and as a brotherhood help this man in God's family. May we be blameless before you as we stand as representatives of Jesus.
Lord you fuuly understand the heart-wrenching nature of the circumstances of this man and his former family. In I Corinthians 12:7-11 KJV, you more than give us enough to handle. Give him strength and courage as a father and provider of health and wisdom to his family. Encourage him to be an example of solid husband if restored and find happiness for the benefit and as a true showing of the family unit. If not restored help him to cultivate a relationship with his family that is trustworthy, honest, and loving. Father in Heaven, if appropriate, please let them have a promising family dynamic when the kids become adults.
Then we pray that he would no longer turn to his drug dealing friend but rather seek new, godly ones. Help him to find and ask for your forgiveness for the wrongs he has done and restore his faith to what it was before the drugs and even greater.
Lord, we pray for his complete healing and restoration, not only as a son of God, but also the earthly father of his children, and even a possible future godly husband if appropriate and called to be. In Jesus Christ name. We acknowledge your angels command in doing this with your Holy Spirit leading and guiding in Jesus Christ name. We ask for him to help others and to have protection from any who would cause him harm.
Finally Lord, we pray for his faith. Draw him ever closer to you, God. Help him to resist temptation and wholeheartedly place his trust in you in every one of his uncertain and difficult circumstances. Help him to accept his troubles with joy knowing you have overcome the world. Lord we pray that he and his can find support in a bible based believing in Christ church and they may all be healed physically, mentally, emotionally, and don't forget spiritual health. In Jesus precious name, Amen. In the meantime Father God in Jesus name we hold him and his family up with these prayers and may You, Father God, in Jesus Christ lead them all to complete peace, trust, faith and health. Thank you Jesus! Amen!
Let's continue to believe in the power of prayer and the healing it can bring to this man and his family's life. As he continues his journey, let us support in prayer. Lastly we address the prayer as a group did not address the name of Jesus, though we answered in Jesus name in the prayer. The doctrine of salvation in Jesus name is that whether you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. We must remember there is no other name by which we can be saved. Acts 4:10-12.
