We join you in lifting up your children to the Lord, trusting in His goodness and faithfulness. We stand in agreement with you, praying for each of your children by name, and we appreciate that you have properly concluded your prayer by giving honor where it is due, in Jesus' name. Let us first discuss biblical principles, before addressing each concern.
The Scriptures remind us to Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7 WEB). It is right to be concerned for our children, but we must also trust that God loves them even more than we do. We must not be carried away with worry. Let God's peace rule in our hearts and minds.
It is wonderful to see your desire for your children to walk in the light of God's Word and follow His will. As you have requested, we pray that God will be with your oldest son, guiding him on the right path and helping him to live life to the fullest. We declare Jesus is the light of the world, he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life (John 8:12 WEB). Casting out demons is a specific act that typically requires a process including prayer, fasting, and direct spiritual confrontation (Matthew 17:14-21). However, we pray that the Lord would silence the enemy's voice in your son's life, and give him strength to walk with Jesus, For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying arguments and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:3-5 WEB).
For your 18-year-old son, we pray that God will guide him as he begins his independent journey. We ask that the Lord will protect him from temptation and keep him from harm. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one (Matthew 6:13 WEB). We pray that he will be rooted in the Word of God, able to stand firm against any trial or temptation that comes his way, so that he may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (Ephesians 6:13 WEB).
For your oldest daughter, we pray that she will make wise decisions and seek God's will for her life. We ask that God will bring a godly spouse into her life, a man who fears the Lord and walks in His ways. Wives, be in submission to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be bitter against them (Colossians 3:18-19 WEB). However, we must reiterate the biblical principles of marriage. The idea of initiating a romantic relationship with someone to see if they are "the one" is not biblical. Marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, designed to reflect the relationship between Christ and the church (Ephesians 5:22-33). The biblical model for choosing a spouse involves seeking God's will, being equally yoked with a believer (2 Corinthians 6:14), and honoring the Lord in all aspects of the relationship. We pray that Alex, if he is indeed the man God has for your daughter, will rise to the occasion and pursue her with pure intentions and a commitment to God's design for marriage. This means that the friendship they currently have should be one of courtship if it is to be continued and this courtship should be conducted with godly intentions and a goal of Christian marriage.
For your youngest, we pray that they will actively seek fellowship with other believers and grow in their faith. Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near (Hebrews 10:24-25 WEB).
In all of this, we pray that God will grant each of your children wisdom as they navigate their respective journeys. If any of them lack wisdom, let them ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to them (James 1:5 WEB).
We join you in praying these things in Jesus' name, for His glory and honor. May God bless your family and keep them close to His heart.
