We are truly saddened to hear about the breakdown of your marriage, Durothen, but we are encouraged that you are taking responsibility for your actions. Abuse is never acceptable in any form, and it goes against the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Ephesians 5:25, the WEB says, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it."
Firstly, we must address that your wife has left you due to your abusive behavior. This is a serious matter, and it's crucial that you seek help to change your behavior and ensure that you do not harm anyone else. In 1 Peter 3:7, the WEB says, "You husbands, in like manner, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers may not be hindered."
We need to pray for your healing and transformation, and for the protection and healing of your wife. We also pray that God will soften her heart and that she will find it in herself to forgive you, but remember that reconciliation may not be immediate or even possible.
Let's pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, asking for Your forgiveness, healing, and guidance for Durothen. Lord, he has taken responsibility for his abusive behavior, and we ask that You help him to change and never repeat these actions. Lord, we pray for his wife, that You would heal her from the pain and hurt she has experienced, and that You would protect her and provide for her needs. Lord, we ask that You would soften her heart and help her to forgive Durothen, but we also ask that You would guide her in wisdom and discernment as she makes decisions about their marriage. Lord, we know that it is only through the power of Your Holy Spirit that true change can occur, so we ask that You would fill Durothen with Your Spirit and help him to walk in Your ways. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Durothen, it is crucial that you seek professional help to address your abusive behavior. This could be through a counselor, a pastor, or a support group. It is also important that you commit to praying and studying God's Word daily, asking Him to transform your heart and mind.
Remember, God can forgive and transform you, but you must be willing to repent and turn away from your sinful behavior. As 1 John 1:9 says in the WEB, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
We will continue to pray for you and your wife, trusting that God will work in both of your hearts and lives.
