Prayer in a relationship

my fiancée know how to pray really well but I don’t know how to and she get frustrated when she ask me to pray and I don’t want to. I sometimes just give bible verses but never really explain them. She always prays over our relationship and me and it hurts her I never pray over her or pray out loud even though I am always going to church and telling her what she should be doing as a wife according to the Bible. I do feel I protect and love her but I am starting to realize as a man I may not be emotionally intelligent or know how to share.

Let's begin by acknowledging that prayer is a vital part of our relationship with God and with one another. It's commendable that your fiancée is dedicated to prayer, and it's important that you both grow together in this area. Firstly, it's crucial to understand that prayer is simply talking to God as you would to a friend. It doesn't require elaborate phrases or a special level of eloquence. In fact, you already are doing this with your Bible verses. Jesus Himself taught us to pray simply:

"When you pray, don't use vain repetitions as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking. Therefore don't be like them, for your Father knows what things you need, before you ask him." Matthew 6:7-8 WEB

Begin with praise, acknowledging God for who He is. Then, thank Him for what He has done in your life and in your fiancée's life. After that, bring your requests to Him, including your desire to grow in emotional intelligence and expressiveness. Finally, close in the name of Jesus, as it is through Him that we have access to God.

"In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full." John 16:23-24 WEB

It's also important to study and meditate on God's Word, so that you can understand and explain it better. This will help you grow spiritually and also lead your wife. This is what you will be doing when married.

"But he answered, 'It is written, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God."'" Matthew 4:4 WEB

Regarding your fiancée, it's wonderful that she prays over you and your relationship. As the spiritual head of the family, God calls you to love and lead your wife as Christ loves and leads the church. This includes praying over her and with her. At the same time, be conscientious about praying over her.

"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it." Ephesians 5:25 WEB

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up this brother who desires to grow in prayer and emotional intimacy with You and his fiancée. Thank You, Lord, for his heart's desire to honor and lead his future wife spiritually.

We ask, Father, that You grant him the wisdom and understanding to comprehend and explain Your Word. Help him communicate effectively and love her as You love Your church. Help him to be willing to pray with her. Remove any fear or discomfort and help him to be bold in his prayers. Give him a desire to pray.

You're already on the right track with the Bible verses. That's a wonderful way to connect with God and share what you're learning with your fiancée. Jesus said, "Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 5:16, ESV). Sharing what you're learning from God's Word is a great way to let your light shine!

It's also important to just talk to God like you would a friend. He's not impressed with fancy words or elaborate phrases. He just wants to hear from your heart. So, why not try starting your prayers with praise, thanking God for the good things in your life and in your fiancée's life? Then, bring your requests to Him. You can ask Him to help you grow in emotional intelligence and expressiveness. And remember, you can ask for anything in Jesus' name, and He'll give it to you (John 14:13-14).

We also love how your fiancée prays over you and your relationship. As the future head of your household, it's important to love and lead your wife as Christ loves and leads the church (Ephesians 5:25). That includes praying with and over her. So, let's make a habit of praying together, shall we?

I wanted to commit suicide once, I even came up with a plan. Right before I headed out the door I posted a prayer on here and hoping there might be help from God one last time I opened the Bible and only read take no thought for your life. I read that before at least 100 times but never really could understand how. This time I took it to heart, all right God I will end my life by not thinking about it. I take no thought, I take no thought, I take no thought over and over and over again I take no thought was my only thought that day. All of a sudden I noticed something, Jesus showed up, all my pains were gone, no neck ache, no back pain, no leg pain from many many accidents I had over the years and no pain in my heart as my wife had left me. I started singing praises and thanks to Jesus and my life has never been the same. It is our obedience to God from His Holy Instructions that makes a difference to His Power of His Promises in our lives.

Be a doer of Jesus friend, it really makes a difference! Thank You Lord Jesus!

Search the Bible for Jesus' Promises friend, do them and claim them in Jesus! Amen! Thank You Lord Jesus!

Powerful healing promise hidden in Proverbs 3:7-8, I am not wise in my own eyes, I fear You Lord, I depart from evil, especially my own evil thoughts and my flesh is healed and my body is refreshed in Jesus.

Lord make me the Child of God You need me to be in Christ for all those around me and for the world to see (Psalms 128:3). Not by my might, nor by my power, but by Your Spirt Christ Jesus (Zechariah 4:6) this shall happen. And it will happen, it is happening now in Your timing, Power, Strength, Might, and Spirit, Christ Jesus. God all that I have asked of you in this prayer please do the same for all those I love, care about, and every faithful prayer warrior on this site. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You Lord Jesus, my Savior and Lord for answering this prayer with a Yes and Amen.
