We join you in your passionate desire to serve the less fortunate and spread the Gospel around the world. We appreciate your heart for those in need and your willingness to serve. Let us first remember the words of Jesus in Matthew WEB:
Whatever you didn't do for one of these least ones, you didn't do for me. (Matthew 25:45 WEB)
Your request focuses on the lack of charities to serve through, but let's expand our view of service to include all opportunities that God places before us.
Firstly, while charities and organizations can be useful tools, our primary focus should be on the body of Christ, the church. The church is God's ordained institution to care for the needy and spread the Gospel. As believers, we are all part of the body of Christ, and we each have a role to play. Let's remember that even if we say we love each other and hate our brothers, we are liars, and the truth is not in us. But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and closes his heart of compassion against him, how does the love of God remain in him? My little children, let's not love in word only, neither with the tongue only, but in deed and truth. (1 John 3:17-18 WEB)
Secondly, let's not forget that serving others is not limited to organized charity work. There are needs all around us, every day. Jesus said, For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you took me in. (Matthew 25:35 WEB)
We should be actively looking for ways to serve, not passively waiting for opportunities to come through a charity. We should be asking God, How can we serve today? Who can we bless with the love of Christ?
Lastly, let's remember that our service should be coupled with the Gospel. Feeding the hungry and clothing the naked are noble deeds, but the greatest need of every person is to hear the good news of Jesus Christ and believe in Him for salvation. For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher? And how will they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things! (Romans 10:13-15 WEB)
Let us pray:
Father, we come before you in Jesus' name, asking for open doors to serve those in need. We pray for God-ordained ministries and churches that are looking to serve their community. Their needs would be met. May you raise up laborers for the harvest, believers who are willing to serve, and may you equip them with everything needed to share the love of Christ and the Gospel of peace.
Give us wisdom, Lord, to see the needs around us. Give us courage to step out in faith and serve, not just through organized efforts, but also through spontaneous, Spirit-led acts of kindness.
We lift up missionaries around the world, Father. Protect them, provide for them, and may their efforts bear fruit to your glory we ask this all in Jesus' name.
May we never forget that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. For there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12 WEB)
We should share the Gospel with those we serve, that they too may come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
In Jesus' name we pray.
