We are truly saddened to hear about the verbal abuse you are experiencing from your husband. We stand with you in prayer, seeking God's intervention and guidance in this difficult situation.
Firstly, we want to address the elephant in the room. The Bible clearly teaches us not to return evil for evil but to return good for evil so that God can work in the situation. The Bible also tells us to turn from evil and do good; to seek peace and pursue it. Therefore, we will not pray for evil or consequences to befall your husband. It is the goodness of God that leads to repentance and we want your husband to repent and be saved if he is not. Praying for evil to happen to him will not save his soul. Praying for his repentance and for God to save his soul is the best thing that we can do to stop the abuse.
Let's turn to the Bible for guidance. In Ephesians 4:29 WEB it says, "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear." This verse reminds us that our words should be used to build up and not tear down. We pray that God will convict your husband's heart and bring him to a place of repentance, where he understands the impact of his words and seeks to use them for good.
The Bible also says in Colossians 3:19 WEB, "Husbands, love your wives, and don't be bitter against them." We pray that God will soften your husband's heart and fill him with love and kindness towards you. In Jesus' name, we come against any spirit of bitterness or anger that may be influencing his behavior.
We also encourage you to seek godly counsel and support during this time. It is important to have a community of believers around you who can pray with you, offer guidance, and help keep you safe. Remember the words of Galatians 6:2 WEB, "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this dear sister who is experiencing verbal abuse from her husband. We pray, Father, that You would intervene in this situation and bring an end to this abuse. We do not wish evil upon her husband but instead ask that the goodness of God would lead him to repentance and that his soul will be saved. Convict his heart, Lord, and help him to see the error of his ways. Fill him with Your love and kindness, and help him to use his words to build up and not tear down.
We also pray for our sister, that You would surround her with Your love and protection. Provide her with a community of believers who can support and encourage her during this time. Guide her steps, Lord, and help her to make wise decisions that honor You. We ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Lastly, we want to encourage you to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus through this trial. He is your strength and your hope. Remember that He loves you deeply and wants the best for you. Trust in Him, and He will see you through.
