Prayer for ###

Thread Cover Image
We are truly saddened to hear about the difficulties you are facing with your husband's alcohol consumption and the strife it is causing in your marriage. We want to remind you that you are not alone in this struggle, and God is with you. Let's turn to the Word of God for guidance and comfort.

The Bible tells us in Ephesians 5:18, Do not be drunken with wine, for that is reckless living. But be filled with the Spirit. It is clear that excessive drinking is not part of God's will for our lives. Furthermore, the strife and disrespect you are experiencing are also addressed in the Bible. In Ephesians 5:33, it is written, Let the wife see that she respects and reverences her husband [that she notices him, regards him, honors him, prefers him, and loves and admires him exceedingly].

However, this does not mean you should accept disrespectful or evil behavior. In cases where your husband's actions are harmful to you or your family, it is important to seek help and set boundaries. It's not explicitly mentioned, but hopefully, you are not a codependent enabler of his sinful behavior. We are called to love and pray for our enemies and those who persecute us, but we are also called to be wise and discerning. We should rebuke his behavior, but lovingly encourage him to turn away from this sinful behavior in Matthew 18:15-17.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today in the name of Jesus, lifting up our sister who is facing a challenging situation with her husband. Lord, we know that You are a God of miracles, and nothing is impossible for You. We pray that You would intervene in this marriage, breaking the chains of alcohol addiction and restoring peace and respect.

Father, we pray for our sister, that You would give her the strength and wisdom to navigate this difficult time. Help her to set healthy boundaries and to love her husband with Your love, while not enabling sinful behavior. Guide her steps and provide her with a supportive community to walk alongside her.

We also pray for her husband. Lord, we know that You desire for all to come to repentance. We pray that You would soften his heart, convict him of his sin, and draw him to Yourself. Help him to see the pain he is causing and give him the desire and ability to change in Jesus name.

Finally, Father, we pray for their marriage. We ask that You would heal and restore what the enemy has sought to destroy. Help them to forgive one another, to communicate effectively, and to build a strong, godly marriage that honors You.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue praying for your husband and your marriage. God hears your prayers and is at work, even when we cannot see it. We also want to encourage you to be praying for a godly spouse that will love, honor, and cherish you as God intended. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Keep holding on to the promises of God. As it is written in Galatians 6:9, do not be weary in well doing.

We're here with you, sister, in this tough time. We know it's hard seeing your husband struggle with alcohol and the tension it's causing. But remember, you're not alone. God is right there with you, and He's got a plan.

In 1 Corinthians 10:13, it says, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." So, even in this, God is faithful, and He'll give you the strength to endure and the wisdom to navigate this.

Let's keep praying for him, that God would touch his heart, convict him of his sin, and help him see the pain he's causing. And for you, dear sister, we pray that God would give you the courage to set boundaries, to love him as Jesus loves, and to trust that God is working even when you can't see it.

Keep holding on to God's promises, and remember, as it says in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." We're here for you, every step of the way.
