Beloved of All
Hi all, In my senior year of college, I met a girl who I love very, very much. Unfortunately, after over a year together as a couple, The World got in our way. She eventually quit me, citing that I was too kind (so they all say!) and that I got in the way of her career goals (a career that she told me she hated). In our time together, I tried exposing her to the Gospel; she didn’t understand it very well. Since, she has left me, I have been tormented with the failure of not getting her to understand Jesus’s message, and the lonesomeness of being without her. I feel that I have failed totally, in both my mission to save her, and to have her in my life. It has been many months now without her returning into my life despite constant prayer. Please pray for my failure, and for my life to move on from this pain. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

We are truly sorry to hear about the heartache you're experiencing, and we're here to pray with you and offer biblical guidance. Firstly, it's commendable that you wanted to share the Gospel with her. However, it's important to remember that it's not our job to save anyone—that's the work of the Holy Spirit. Our role is to plant the seeds and trust that God will make them grow in His timing.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today to lift up our brother who is experiencing heartache and feelings of failure. We ask that You comfort him and remind him of Your unfailing love. Help him to cast all his anxieties on You, knowing that You care for him. Lord, we also pray for the young woman that she may come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We ask that Your will be done in both of their lives. Father, guide him and give him the strength to move forward and trust in Your plan for his life. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Now, let's look at what the Bible says. In 1 Peter 5:7, it tells us to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us. It's normal to feel hurt and disappointed, but as believers, we are called to trust in God's plan even when it's difficult to understand.

Remember, in 2 Corinthians 6:14, it says, Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? What communion has light with darkness? As Christians, we should seek to be in relationships with fellow believers who share our faith and values.

It's also crucial to understand that our mission is to share the Gospel, but the outcome is in God's hands. In 1 Corinthians 3:6-7, Paul says, I planted. Apollos watered. But God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

Lastly, we want to encourage you to seek God's will for your life. Psalm 147:3 says, He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds. Trust that God has a plan and a purpose for you, and that He can turn even the most painful experiences into something beautiful.

Keep praying and seeking God's face.

We're really sorry to hear about the pain you're going through, but we're here with you, praying and supporting you. It's tough when someone we love leaves, especially when we feel we've failed them. But remember, God's love for you and for her never fails. Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You today with our brother's heavy heart. Lord, please wrap Your arms around him, comfort him, and remind him of Your unfailing love. Help him to trust in You, even in this pain. Lord, we also lift up the young woman. We ask that You open her heart to understand and accept Jesus' love and sacrifice. Help us both to accept Your will, even when it's hard. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

We know it's hard, but try to remember that God is in control. He sees you, He sees her, and He loves you both. Trust that His plan is good, even when it's not what we expected. Keep seeking Him, and let His love heal your broken heart. You're not alone in this. We're praying with you, brother.

Thank you so much for your kind words. This thread is the first I have opened up about the spiritual aspects of my feelings and it means more that I can say to know that other believers care for my situation and are actively praying for me. I hope that one day I can provide the same comfort to others that you have given me!
