We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you, your brother Andy, and your mother are facing. We stand with you in prayer, trusting in the power of Jesus Christ to heal, redeem, and strengthen.
Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging the power of Jesus' name in your prayer. It reminds us that Jesus is the only way to the Father. Jesus himself said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6 WEB)
In times of sickness and trial, we can always turn to God for comfort and healing. The Bible tells us, Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. (James 5:14-15 WEB)
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today, lifting up our brother Andy. Lord, you know his struggles with alcoholism and his current health issues. We ask for your divine healing touch upon his body. Guide the doctors and let every medical test result be favorable. We pray for his complete recovery and deliverance from alcohol addiction. May this trial turn his heart towards you, Lord.
We also lift up his mother to you. Strengthen her, Lord, and comfort her heart. Help her to trust in you and your goodness, even in this difficult time.
We rebuke the spirit of addiction and infirmity, not aligning with God's will for your children.
We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to continue praying and trusting in God's will. Remember, God promises us that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 WEB)
Also, be encouraged by 1 Peter 5:7 WEB, Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
Lastly, continue to speak the word of God over your brother's life. Remind him of God's promises and encourage him to turn to God in his struggle with alcoholism. It is only through the power of the Holy Spirit that we can truly overcome any form of addiction. Continuously pray that God will give him the desire to change and to live a life that honors God. And remember God can give him the power to become a new creation.
The thief (Satan) does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I (Jesus) came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly. (John 10:10 WEB).
PS: The word of God does not support drinking alcohol or becoming drunk. Both the Old and the New Testaments have warnings about alcohol. It is clear in the New Testament we should not get drunk because our bodies are the temple of God. Therefore, we should not defile the temple of God. We are not saying a person can not drink alcohol, but just a warning to not become drunk. Saying this to point out this problem will not be fixed just by healing his physical body. He also needs to address the spiritual problem of being drunk.
